New and used Euro pallets

In business, it is often crucial to be able to choose between new and used Euro pallets. While new pallets offer a longer lifespan and a flawless appearance, used pallets are a cost-effective option without compromising on quality. According to the official quality classification of the European Pallet Association e.V. (EPAL), used Euro pallets are divided into the following classes:

• Class A: These Euro pallets are of almost new quality and are often white. They are clean, have no discoloration and show only minimal signs of use. These pallets are often referred to as "light" or "premium".
• Class B: Pallets in this class have already been used several times and show corresponding signs of wear. They may show signs of discoloration, for example due to contact with metal, but are still fully functional and meet the necessary quality standards for the transportation of goods.
• Class C: These pallets show clear signs of use and discoloration. They may have damaged or patched boards, but are still suitable for transportation. It is possible that these pallets will need to be repaired in the future.
• Unsorted: As the name suggests, these are Euro pallets that have not yet been sorted according to their quality. This category includes both high quality pallets and those that may need repairs.

EPAL quality standards

EPAL (European Pallet Association) is the best-known organization that certifies Euro pallets. We apply the EPAL quality standard to all our EPAL Euro pallets. This means that every EPAL Euro pallet we offer meets the strict criteria of this organization. These pallets are not only robust, but also safe and reliable - essential characteristics in commercial transportation.

EPAL, UIC and World: the differences

In addition to EPAL, there are organizations such as UIC (International Union of Railways) and World, which also set standards for Euro pallets. All organizations follow the basic idea of quality and safety, but there are differences in the specifications. Although our main focus is based on the EPAL standard, we also offer Euro pallets from the UIC and World organizations.

Dimensions of the Euro pallet

A characteristic feature of the Euro pallet is its standardized dimensions. It has a base area of 1200 x 800 mm and a standardized height of 144 mm. These standardized dimensions ensure that it can be used throughout Europe and in many other parts of the world without any problems. This makes stacking, storage and transportation much easier and leads to more efficient logistics processes.

Heat treatment according to ISPM 15

A crucial aspect of the international movement of goods is the heat treatment of wooden packaging materials in accordance with ISPM 15. This international standard specifies that wooden packaging, which includes Euro pallets, must undergo heat treatment to minimize the risk of spreading pests. All our Euro pallets, whether new or used, comply with this standard, so you can be sure that they are suitable for international shipping.
